Get Involved

Together, we can make HIV prevention part of everyday life—and help London reach zero new infections by 2030.

Be Vocal

You may not think it, but your voice is incredibly impactful. That’s why we’re keen to partner with you. Your friendships, your relationships and your online presence are where conversations about sex, health, and trust already happen. By being vocal with Do It London, you can help normalise HIV prevention, signpost people to the free testing they have the right to access and tackle the taboos and stigma that still exists around sex generally and around living with HIV.

We’re designing easily sharable messages for socials, that will also help you start conversations with family and friends around HIV. Find inspiration here, or share as we go, and let’s get rid of the taboos around HIV.

Volunteer

Testing for STIs or asking questions about sexual health can be stressful. So, you can help the team make the experience a welcoming and friendly one for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. You’ll get full training and supervision from the GMI team, and you’ll have the option of getting involved in helping to answer questions or administering tests.

You don’t need a background in healthcare, just a willingness to get involved and to learn. You’ll join a great group of people, enhance your CV, get satisfaction from doing good, and be giving back to London.

If you’re interested in volunteering with the outreach team, the GMI partnership would love to hear from you.

Support an organisation

We won’t sugarcoat it, HIV services and voluntary organisations are in a tight spot. As this report from HIV Outcomes lays out, funding reductions leaving people living with and affected by HIV without vital voluntary sector support and services.

We aren’t going to pressure you to part with your hard-earned cash, but if you’re one of those people who loves a marathon, there are many brilliant organisations who would love you to use your London Marathon PB or World AIDS Day Red Run to sponsor them, or for whom a £5 monthly donation will make a world of difference.

HIV Confident

HIV Confident is a charter mark for employers – both businesses and public sector employers like local authorities – that lets people know that anyone living with HIV can work for you or access services you provide without the fear of stigma or unlawful discrimination. Why don’t you consider raising the HIV Confident Charter at your place of work?
