Testing for HIV is free, quick and confidential. What’s not to love?
HIV testing means taking a small sample of blood from your finger. Regular testing is the best way to know your status – and all of the options we’ve listed below are free for everyone. Choose the test that suits you best.
It’s recommended that everyone who’s sexually active gets tested for HIV and other STIs at least once a year. Remember, it’s your health – and your health is important. Some people are encouraged to test more regularly – see the recommendations for all Londoners, Black Londoners, men who have sex with men, trans people, women and young people. If you’re not sure what is right for you, we recommend booking a test at a sexual health clinic and talking with staff during your appointment.
We understand you might be nervous about what the result of your test might be. However there’s nothing to fear. Treatment today can prevent and even reverse damage that HIV could have caused, so people on treatment can live long, healthy lives. The sooner you know your status the better for you and your partners. So we recommend booking a test as soon as possible.
